Disclosure: The websites and apps I recommend in this article are the ones I prefer. I do not get paid by any of the developers or companies behind these for promoting them and to my best knowledge so does neither anyone on the blizzpro team. I share my thoughts just because I am passionate for the game and I want to give something back to the community. It took me quite a while to find some of the sites I highlight and I want to make it easier for others to get to the desired information. If I missed your favorite application or resource I appreciate any comment below or a message @OtakuMZ1978.
I. Deck Trackers
I am far from a professional player. Nevertheless, I use a lot of resources to improve my play, to research strategies and interactions and to track my progress. It took me quite a while to figure out where to get the information needed to improve my play. I hope I can provide you some useful information to skip a lot of research that I had to do.
For me, playing almost exclusively on my tablet (iPad mini 2, retina), stat tracking, until lately, was the hardest to come by. Before, my tracking app was Innkeeper [link, image] (not affiliated with the tool of the same name by Hearthpwn/Curse), but it has not been updated since more than a year ago. I did not record my games for more than a year, because I simply found it too frustrating to leave the client after every game to input the data into a separate app or fill in the data using the multitude of web based trackers.
Generally, I can only highly encourage you to use trackings tools like the ones I pointed out. Your gut felling can be way off when evaluating the effectiveness of a deck you play. I only recently began to learn more aggro style decks. I started with Pirate Warrior. After a couple of games I felt I was losing more than winning but looking at the stats I found myself at a win rate of above 60%. I think my feeling mislead me because of how close the games always felt. More though, wins came quick and losses were mostly frustrating and games dragged out significantly longer as well as the plays I had to make involved a lot of suboptimal options.
Hearthstone Deck Tracker (Windows PC / Mac) / HearthStats (Web)
When I play on PC, things become a lot easier, I just use Hearthstone Deck Tracker, which is available for Windows PC and Mac. This great tool manages decks and synchronizes data with Hearthstats [link]. It also provides a feature to recap a game which most pros consider the key to becoming better.
Trackstone (iOS, iPad and iPhone)
Not using any statistics tool on my tablet felt always suboptimal. Now I found a solution for my problem in a little app called Trackstone. It allows me to input match data via a widget via the notification center. You simply use the swipe down gesture, select your deck and the opponent’s class and input won or lost, done! It could be more complex, with selection of coin or not as well as the opponents deck type, but for my needs it is good enough and gets the job done fast without using a additional device switching application. Especially the latter is important for me because on my older device, switching apps sometimes results in the the hearthstone app having to reload. ALos, data collected is put together in a small meta report (see screenshots), which is kinda nice. The developement for iOS 10 has already begun according to the developer (Fabio Bassan) which is important to know because you can be sure that it will be supported in the future. By the way, it is free to use – go grab it!

HearthHand (iOS, iPhone only)
Besides Trackstone, there is another app called HearthHand that provides tracking your games via a wigdget. It looks neat and allows more complex match imput (coin, opponent deck type etc.) than Trackstone. It would be the dream for stat tracking on iPad and it is already solid for iPhone users. Definetly a recommendation if you are on iPhone only or if you wnat to track stats using your iPhone besides another device. It is free, so definetly worth a try. Unfortunately I was not able to get the widget running properly on my iPad so far. Additionally there is not dedicated iPad UI available (iPhone UI only), but the developer (Matthew Ondusko), who was kindly enough to reply quickly, assured me that he is working on it. The iPad UI should be due to release this summer according to Matthew.
Android?
I do not own an Android device and neither do I have knowledge of viable Android companion apps. I am happy to amend recommendations here, just tell me what you think and I will list it and if you like I point out who sent me the info.
HearthArena.com (Web)
I play little arena, but when I do, I use HearthArena, a web based tool. Its tag line line is “beyond the tier list”, which is quite fitting. They have a tier list for every class but they also provide a guide which helps you decide which card of the three options is best to take. This guide also takes cards already drafted into the equation and shows you possible synergies. I think, especially for the less experienced arena player that is not fully aware of all cards, this tool helps to get a feeling how good cards are and teaches you card interactions on the fly. To summarize: highly recommended!
So far so good, part II with card browsers, guides, meta reports and video content will be available tomorrow at the same time, so tune in!
